"Broadcast networks will need to make a special effort this fall to counter lingering effects of the strike, he said. ABC plans to devote more promotional time than it normally does to returning shows instead of new series."
"We certainly saw the affect of the strike," McPherson said. "People found other things to do."

Massive in WV is still pretty small, unless you're talking about Joe Manchin's ego.

Generally speaking, new network shows are just like old network shows, so it might be a good business decision to forgo the development costs. And this might be a good thing for the country, since the networks are now unanimous in encouraging people to spend more time reading.

The fact is that the old TV networks can't afford to crank out new shows such as sitcoms and hour-dramas, like they used to. That's why we have a wasteland of cheap and unimaginative reality shows. Competition from cable has substantially reduced the audience for network TV and thereby, their revenues. The good part is that I can flip over and watch a documentary anytime I want. The bad part is that the quality of much of the available network programming has declined.

I don't have cable and my antennas just blew down so regularly that I don't replace them anymore. There are only have two channels available to my rabbit ears. One is PBS and the other ABC. I sometimes watch PBS and I watch the local news, weather and sports on ABC. After the news I have to turn it off. I believe ABC has the most inane and armature shows on the air but maybe the other networks are just as horrible. Who knows?
Btw, if I really want to see something on tv I go down the road to my daughters, she has satellite.

Well, if you laid off the cheap wine maybe then you would have the disposable income. Hmmm, for all your rabid support of your neocon buddies, you would think that you would be better off than what you are....strange....you must live down in the holler.
