Salon's Glenn Greenwald has a review and commentary: "Like the Bill Moyers documentary on the pre-Iraq press failures, the program does not really contain blockbuster new revelations that are unknown to those who have been attentive to these matters, but is nonetheless very much worth watching because it powerfully dramatizes the severity of privacy erosion at the hands of a federal government operating largely in the dark.

The real value in the program is to serve as a reminder for just how little we know about what our government is doing in spying on our domestic activities and communications and the data it is collecting."

"Is the Bush administration's domestic war on terrorism jeopardizing our civil liberties?"

question: why is this "Bush's war"? I thought this was America's fight. After all wasnt america attacked on 9-11 not just Bush?

I love Frontline, and here they document very clearly how the Bushies have lied and covered up unconstitutional behavior like warrantless wiretapping, and tapping into and data mining ALL electronic and voice communication. They also went to all the hotels in Vegas and insisted they hand over ALL information on guests and visitors. And that is just the stuff we know about.

The Bushies lie and say they don't do it, then when caught red handed they distort their real activities and claim that Bush has to right to do unconstitutional things as commander in chief in war time. (How convenient he lied us into a war)

Since I know most neocons won't bother to go read the actual fourth amendment, they would just take Rush's and Fox's word for it, I will post it. The limits on government servailance is very clear, even for the 18th century. I don't see how any sane, reasonable person could read it while know exactly what the Bushies are up to and argue that it is not unconstitutional.

The text of the fourth amendment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized

The other the thing the program does is give a great historical perspective. How, during the Watergate hearings, the Congressional committee uncovered how out of control the NSA was, spying on whoever whenever they wanted under that guise of "national security". Congress enacts legislation to bring it under control. 30 years later the Bushies come along and decide that the legislation is unconstitutional, but instead of challanging it in court, they decide to just secretly ignore it.

Can we all just ignore laws we don't agree with?

But of course neocons are not interested in history or the big picture... they are only interested in emotional ladden cliches for their argurment like "he's only trying to protect you"
